Marseille open the door to sell Højbjerg with low price

According to TuttoJuve, Olympique de Marseille could be willing to part ways with Pierre-Emile Højbjerg in the upcoming transfer window.

The French club reportedly values the Danish midfielder at around €12 million, with additional performance-related bonuses potentially included in any deal.

A key factor behind this stance is Højbjerg’s significant salary, estimated at approximately €500,000 per month. While the midfielder has proven to be a crucial figure on and off the pitch, such a high wage represents a considerable financial burden.

This could ultimately push Marseille to reconsider his untouchable status within the squad, especially as the club looks to balance its books and reshape its long-term strategy.

Højbjerg initially arrived in July 2024 on loan before completing a permanent transfer worth around €13.5 million.

Since then, he has quickly established himself as a leader, both through his commanding presence during matches and his influence inside the dressing room.

Leadership, Consistency, and Uncertain Future

Throughout the current campaign, Højbjerg has been one of Marseille’s most reliable performers. He has made 36 appearances across all competitions, starting 33 of them and surpassing 3,000 minutes played.

His attacking contribution—three goals and four assists—further highlights his importance within the team’s tactical setup. His leadership qualities have also been recognized with the captain’s armband, underlining his central role in the squad.

Despite recent transfer rumors, including reported interest from Juventus, the Danish international had already addressed speculation back in January.

At the time, he firmly dismissed any exit talks, emphasizing his focus on Marseille and expressing satisfaction with his current environment.

He also pointed to his strong relationship with teammates and club management, including sporting director Medhi Benatia, as key reasons for his commitment.

Still, with a contract running until 2028, Højbjerg’s future remains open. The coming weeks are expected to be decisive in determining whether he continues his journey in Marseille or begins a new chapter elsewhere, as both sporting ambitions and financial realities come into play.
