Liverpool are preparing to go head-to-head with Manchester City in the race to sign Juventus fullback Andrea Cambiaso, as uncertainty grows around Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Anfield.

With Real Madrid increasingly linked to the England international, the Reds are making contingency plans despite ongoing efforts to retain him.

Currently, Liverpool sit just one point away from clinching the Premier League title, which would mark their 20th English league triumph.

New manager Arne Slot, who succeeded Jurgen Klopp last summer, has placed his trust in the squad he inherited and is now ready to reshape it after a season of careful evaluation.

Slot has so far added only Federico Chiesa from Juventus, using the current campaign to closely assess the players at his disposal. Now, with the summer transfer window approaching, Liverpool are poised to strengthen key areas of the squad.

After Cityzens, also the Read are interested for Andrea Cambiaso

According to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb, Liverpool are ready to challenge Manchester City in a bid for Cambiaso’s signature.

Juventus value the 25-year-old fullback at around €60 million. However, going up against City’s financial muscle could prove a major hurdle for the Reds.

Cambiaso, who can operate on either side of the defense or even centrally, offers the kind of tactical flexibility that Slot desires in his fullbacks. Although predominantly left-footed, the Italian is comfortable with both feet, enhancing his versatility on the pitch.

The Italian international is highly regarded for his ball-carrying skills, composure under pressure, and exceptional first touch. His ability to execute accurate crosses and passes from various positions makes him a valuable asset.

In Serie A this season, Cambiaso has recorded a passing accuracy of 91.9%, an impressive long-ball success rate of 83.3%, and a 61% dribbling success rate.

Defensively, Cambiaso’s numbers are just as strong. He has completed 104 recoveries, holds a 61.5% success rate in tackles, and wins 52% of his ground duels.

Across 38 appearances in all competitions for Juventus this season, he has contributed two goals and three assists.
