Juventus is actively seeking a midfield reinforcement in the upcoming January transfer window, with a clear priority: a deep-lying playmaker capable of controlling the tempo and dictating play for the team.

The club sees this role as crucial for stabilizing the squad and providing the creative spark necessary in tight matches.

According to Sportmediaset, manager Luciano Spalletti has specifically requested a player with these qualities, signaling the club’s intent to invest in a midfielder who can immediately influence games.

Juventus’ director, Damien Comolli, has reportedly narrowed the search to three potential candidates, each offering a different profile but sharing the ability to orchestrate play from the middle of the park.

The Three Contenders

The first name on the list is Guido Rodriguez, the 1994-born Argentine currently at West Ham. Rodriguez is known for his defensive awareness, tactical intelligence, and ability to transition the ball efficiently from defense to attack.

His experience in top European leagues could make him a reliable option for Juventus, who are looking for stability in midfield.

The second candidate is Xaver Schlager, the Austrian international born in 1997 and currently playing for RB Leipzig. Schlager combines energy, pressing ability, and technical skill, offering Juventus a dynamic option who can contribute both offensively and defensively.

His versatility could also allow Spalletti to experiment with different formations and tactical setups.

Finally, Ruben Neves, the 1997-born Portuguese star at Al-Hilal, is also on the radar. Renowned for his passing range, vision, and composure under pressure, Neves fits the profile of a classic playmaker who can control the rhythm of the game.

His presence could provide Juventus with the kind of midfield leadership that has sometimes been lacking in recent seasons.

Whichever of these three names Juventus chooses, the addition is expected to strengthen the team’s core and help Spalletti implement his tactical philosophy more effectively.
