Juventus offer Kostić in swap deal for Atalanta talent

Juventus are aiming to resolve two problems with one move this summer. The Turin giants are reportedly preparing a swap deal involving Filip Kostic and Atalanta’s promising talent, Marco Palestra.

Kostic, who joined Juventus from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022, spent two seasons under Max Allegri. When Thiago Motta took over, however, the Serbian winger was immediately deemed out of place.

As a result, he was loaned to Fenerbahce, where he enjoyed a solid spell under Jose Mourinho.

Despite his decent performances in Turkey, Fenerbahce decided against making the move permanent. Kostic has since returned to Juventus and even featured in the recent FIFA Club World Cup.

Yet, he remains surplus to requirements, and Juve are keen to sell him before his contract expires in 2026.

Marco Palestra Juventus solution?

While looking to offload Kostic, Juventus are also focused on strengthening their wingback options.

Porto’s Joao Mario is set to arrive in Turin soon, with Alberto Costa heading the other way. Still, Juventus want one more versatile option to complete the overhaul.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Juventus are exploring a player-swap with Atalanta. The proposal would see Kostic move to Bergamo, with 20-year-old right wingback Marco Palestra heading to Turin.

Palestra is a highly-rated product of Atalanta’s youth academy and was promoted to the senior team last season. He made nine Serie A appearances and featured three times in the Champions League.

However, heavy competition limited his overall minutes. A move to Juventus could offer the Italy U21 international more playing time and a clearer path to regular football.

For Atalanta, Kostic could bring much-needed experience and depth on the flanks.

Whether this deal materializes depends on Atalanta’s willingness to part with their young talent. But for Juventus, the exchange could mark a smart, future-focused solution.
