João Cancelo, the versatile Portuguese right-back born in 1994, could be set for a surprising return to European football much sooner than expected.

After his move to Saudi Arabia, the former Juventus defender is reportedly considering leaving Al Hilal as early as the January transfer window, with the aim of coming back to the top level in Europe.

According to Fabrizio Romano, a key source for transfer news, Cancelo is open to a new challenge and has not ruled out a return to Italy. This development has naturally attracted attention from several major European clubs that are closely monitoring his situation.

Juventus Monitoring the Situation

Juventus are among the clubs showing interest in Cancelo and have already taken concrete steps. As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the Bianconeri have contacted the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, to gather information about the feasibility of a potential deal.

The discussions are still at an exploratory stage, focused mainly on Cancelo’s financial demands and the conditions required to make a January move possible.

Cancelo previously wore the Juventus shirt during the 2018 season, where his attacking qualities and technical ability left a strong impression.

A return to Turin would represent both a sporting opportunity for Juventus and a familiar environment for the player, who knows Serie A well.

Competition from Barcelona and Inter

However, Juventus are not alone in the race. Two other clubs with strong historical ties to Cancelo are following the situation even more closely.

Barcelona, where Cancelo recently played on loan, and Inter, another former club, are both reportedly very interested in bringing the Portuguese international back into their squads.

While no formal negotiations have begun yet, the growing interest suggests that Cancelo could become one of the most talked-about names of the upcoming January transfer window.

As Fabrizio Romano continues to report, the situation remains open, with developments expected in the coming weeks as clubs assess their options and priorities.
