Juventus are preparing for a more restrained summer transfer window compared to last year, but they remain committed to making key additions to strengthen their squad. The Bianconeri have identified Sandro Tonali as an ideal signing due to his tactical flexibility and ability to adapt to any coaching system.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, while the pursuit of the Italian midfielder is complex, Juventus remain determined to bring him to Turin and will explore every possible avenue to secure the transfer.

The club’s primary focus is on bolstering two key areas: central midfield and the striker position. While Tonali is their top target for the midfield, Juventus are also considering Ederson from Atalanta as a backup option.

Interestingly, their relationship with Newcastle United where Tonali currently plays is in better shape than with Atalanta, particularly following their recent dealings involving Teun Koopmeiners. This amicable connection with the Premier League side could give Juventus an edge in negotiations.

Additionally, their signing of Lloyd Kelly, despite being met with mixed reactions due to his high transfer fee and inconsistent performances, has helped strengthen ties between the clubs. Juventus intend to leverage this newfound rapport to facilitate a deal for Tonali.

Securing Tonali’s services, however, will require a significant financial commitment, as Newcastle value him at around €60-70 million. To ease the financial burden, Juventus plan to include Douglas Luiz in the deal, aiming to reduce the cash component to approximately €20-30 million.

The Brazilian midfielder has faced challenges adapting to Serie A, struggling with injuries and failing to find chemistry with Thiago Motta’s tactical system. A fresh start in the Premier League might be a more favorable option for him.

Newcastle, on their part, may also show interest in other Juventus players, including Federico Gatti and Dusan Vlahovic. Gatti has been a dependable presence in the Juventus defense, while Vlahovic remains a highly sought-after striker.

Given that Tonali moved from AC Milan to Newcastle in July 2023 for a fee close to €60 million, a potential return to Italy could be on the cards if both clubs reach a mutually beneficial agreement.
