West Ham are one of the teams interested in signing Juventus midfielder ahead of the January transfer window, according to TuttoSport.
The Italian website reported [19 December] that the Hammers are joined by Fulham and Crystal Palace in asking for information about the 23-year-old, having already been linked to another midfielder.
It is understood that Juventus are expecting possible transfer developments between Boxing Day and early 2025, with Fagioli preferring a move to an “emblazoned” club.
West Ham United to sign Nicolo Fagioli?
Julen Lopetegui has multiple positions to address ahead of the January transfer market, especially given the failings of Guido Rodriguez and Edson Alvarez in the middle of the park.
Fagioli, despite his age, is an extremely talented and experienced midfielder, with 64 first-team appearances for the Old Lady since graduating from the club’s academy. He has also won seven caps at international level with Italy, becoming quite a sought-after youngster across Europe, and it is no surprise to see the Hammers join the race.
With Juventus, Fagioli has Champions League and Europa League experience under his belt and would certainly suit the system under Lopetegui.
It remains to be seen how much a move for the 23-year-old Italian would cost the Hammers, but if Tim Steidten has any desire to get back on the fans’ good side, this signing could help with that.
Fagioli has only started five of Juventus’ 16 Serie A matches this season, and if Lopetegui can promise him regular minutes at the London Stadium, it may persuade him to move to East London.
Thiago Motta certainly has issues when it comes to injuries at the Allianz Stadium, but many of those blows come in defence, with the midfield section of the squad still fully stacked.
Due to this, Juventus could be more open to Fagioli’s exit if the Irons can make the right offer in January.
