Juventus have stepped up their pursuit of Alessandro Romano, making an initial move that could mark the beginning of negotiations with Cagliari over the highly rated midfielder.
According to Daniele Longo of Calciomercato, Giovanni Carnevali has held two telephone conversations with Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini to gather detailed information about the 2006-born talent.

The Bianconeri have a clear objective: beat their Italian and international rivals to Romano’s signature as early as January.
Juventus are determined to move ahead of Inter in the race and have reportedly communicated their strong interest in the former Roma prospect to Cagliari.
Romano is viewed as the type of midfielder Juventus have been searching for, a player capable of controlling the tempo of a match with technical quality while possessing significant room for further development.
Juventus Prepare Offer for January Move
Romano attracted interest from several Italian clubs following an impressive individual campaign with Spezia. However, Cagliari ultimately won the race for his signature, paying €6.5 million plus bonuses to secure his services.
That investment could prove to be an excellent piece of business. Cagliari recognise Romano’s considerable technical and financial potential, and Giulini and head coach Fabio Pisacane are keen to maximise his value.
According to Longo, Cagliari’s preference is to consider potential offers only from next summer. Juventus, however, are looking to accelerate the process and could prepare an offer worth between €23 million and €25 million for a January transfer.

Whether that amount will be enough to convince the Sardinian club remains uncertain. Nevertheless, Juventus appear serious about their pursuit and are prepared to push ahead with their plans.
Inter and Milan Also Monitoring the Situation
Inter were reportedly the first Italian club to contact both Cagliari and the player’s representatives to obtain a detailed assessment of Romano and the possible conditions of a transfer.
The Nerazzurri’s interest is concrete, although their current plans are focused on next season. Dario Baccin and Inter’s recruitment team reportedly want greater clarity over the futures of Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Aleksandar Stanković before making a decisive move for Romano.
Milan have also been linked with the midfielder in recent days. However, according to the report, the Rossoneri have not opened negotiations with the player’s camp. While Romano is appreciated, Milan are still evaluating several potential options to strengthen their midfield.
For now, Juventus appear determined to gain an advantage over their rivals. The key question is whether a January offer of €23–25 million will persuade Cagliari to reconsider their plans and allow one of Italy’s most promising young midfielders to leave earlier than expected.
