Juventus vs Torino | Match Preview‼️

Regardless of their league form or position, Derby della Mole has been dominated by Juventus in the last nearly 30 years, as they have lost to Torino only once across the last 38 competitive meetings since April 1995 (W28, D9). The Bianconeri side of Turin will hope to continue that proud record here as Juventus start this round down in sixth place, despite being the only team yet to lose a Serie A match this term (W5, D6).

A high number of draws has been holding Thiago Motta’s men back, a feat they repeated in midweek in a 1-1 UEFA Champions League draw against Lille, a result which means that Juventus have won just one of their last five competitive matches (D3, L1). They did win their last league game at Udinese (W2-0) and a match against their local rivals here gives them a good chance of registering their first set of back-to-back Serie A wins since the first two rounds of the season.

Despite entering matchday six at the top of the standings, Torino started this round tenth because of a dreadful run of five defeats in six league matches since (W1). It was small margins for Paolo Vanoli’s men in those setbacks as each of those five losses came by a single-goal margin, including their last home match against Fiorentina (L 1-0), which was their third consecutive match to end 1-0 (W1, L2).

Similar margins have been the case even in Torino’s last four away matches, with three of them producing a 3-2 score (W1, L2). Worryingly for the Granata, the visitors have conceded the opening goal in each of the last three, which has been the case even in five of their last eight short competitive trips to Juventus Stadium. 

Players to watch: Each of Juventus’ last ten goals against Torino were recorded by a different player, including one from Federico Gatti who opened the scoring in their last H2H win. But more recently, six of his last seven goals arrived after the break. The visitors will be relying on Antonio Sanabria, who has scored three of Torino’s last five goals against Juventus, with two arriving before half-time.

Hot stat: Ahead of this round, only Fiorentina had a better second-half record in Serie A than Juventus (2H: W6, D4, L1).
