From Italy, it is reported today that Ronald Araújo, the Uruguayan center-back of FC Barcelona, could be seriously considering a departure from the Blaugrana to join Juventus.

According to information published this Tuesday. The defender would have given his approval to the possibility of joining the team led by Thiago Motta. Which would be an unexpected move in the winter transfer market after his return from the injury.

Juventus’s interest in the defender is no coincidence. The Piedmontese club is looking to strengthen its defensive line after the injuries to key players like Bremer and Cabal, in addition to the imminent departure of Danilo. The proposed operation is a loan with an obligation to buy. A formula that would allow the “Vecchia Signora” to secure the player’s services immediately.

Araújo, who recently returned to the field after a long recovery, is under contract with Barcelona until 2026. However, his position in the team could be in question given the good performances of Pau Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez, who have gained prominence this season.

A key point in this potential transfer is Araújo’s Spanish passport, which avoids squad problems for Juventus. Although the Italian club also has Slovak David Hancko on their radar, both signings would not be mutually exclusive.

The Araújo’s renewal with Barça?

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, speculation has increased following statements by Araújo where he avoided confirming significant progress in his renewal with Barcelona.

We are in talks with the club, but I am focused on playing and regaining minutes,”. He said after a recent match, leaving the door open to an uncertain future.

For now, Juventus is speeding up negotiations in the hope of closing the deal before the market closes. The possible arrival of Araújo would be a luxury reinforcement for the Turin defense in January.
