West Ham are potential suitors for Douglas Luiz in the January transfer window, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via West Ham Zone.
The Italian newspaper, reporting via their website on Friday (20 December), mentioned the London Stadium as a possible destination for the midfielder, with Fulham also named.
Juventus are looking to raise money to fund their £24.8million swoop for David Hancko and are, therefore, could sell Luiz among others.
Julen Lopetegui to bolster West Ham midfield with Douglas Luiz?
The Hammers made two major additions to their midfield Carlos Soler and Guido Rodriguez in the summer.
However, things have not quite worked out for the East London outfit, who are placed 14th in the Premier League and sit seven points above the relegation zone.
Julen Lopetegui’s side could, therefore, shake things up in midfield, with Rodriguez already being linked with a move away from the London Stadium [Ficherio].
Luiz swapped Aston Villa for Juventus in the summer, but has struggled to establish himself as a key player for the Serie A giants.
The Brazil international has made just two starts across all competitions for the Old Lady. Despite his time in Turin being underwhelming so far, the 26-year-old could still be a valuable signing for the Hammers, considering his Premier League experience.
However, it remains to be seen what terms Juventus are prepared to let him leave for. It would not be a surprise if West Ham preferred to sign him on an initial loan deal before reviewing the situation in the summer.
